Living Laboratory

2015
Experimental workshop designed and delivered at Banff Centre

“Have you ever wanted to be invisible?”
She asked.
“The kind of invisible when you forget about yourself, when your body is there, but your inhibitions are not.”
“Is it possible?” He wondered.

Let’s explore the world of communication through a series of activities centered on the relationships between the body, the ensemble and the object.

Expanding on the topics of the Truth, Lies, Lore Thematic Residency where artists are challenging conventional wisdom through experimentation of redefining objects and altering contexts and histories, we will question the notion of life (animate verses inanimate) through the creation of playful performative actions.

The group’s diversity in age will offer a broad range of perspectives and an opportunity to break down perceived hierarchies between knowledge, lived experience and naivety.

The workshop will take place over two hours from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 and consist of a group of six children and six grown-ups.

This project would not have been possible without the generous financial support of Banff Centre.
